and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons.
It is not possible to cover one's own nakedness. (He said, find words, and instead I found him. But I had already been found.)
To pontificate or not - not. But write one must.
Brother, sister, friend, lover, beloved - how I have reached out to you. Am I too bold? Am I too timid?
Note well - they. They sewed fig leaves together. It was not just the male and not just the female, alone. They were equally ashamed. I am not saying you should be ashamed - not at all. The story says they were ashamed and they tried to fix their problem by sewing fig leaves to make a covering for their nakedness.
If you don't know the story, it is in Genesis 3. (I can't believe you don't know the story at least in its outline. It is not history. Not, not, not - not history. Don't go there. The thought is totally misleading. Look rather with the opened eyes of inner faith into the mystery of your own nakedness and wonder at the one who created you at this moment now.)
Look at yourself? And wonder? Wait - is that not just self-centeredness? And am I not really supposed to be blind? Other stories tell me I am blind. (This one doesn't. It says the eyes of both were opened and they knew they were naked and they were ashamed.)
Note well - they each had eyes separately. The eyes of both were opened.
Just say thank you. This was not a 'fall' but an eye-opener!
Now about shame - it is a fire representing a broken relationship. Restore the relationship and the problem is fixed - not with fig leaves - they burn. How do you restore a relationship?
Some can - some can't. Some will, some won't.
If you do, you will find unspeakable words and you too will have been found by the one who does restore all things.
I love you. That's fire too.
The fire is everywhere.
