Moses says to Joshua - be strong and of a good courage. What else could one hope for those whom one loves who come after you? These are accidental linguistic connections.
Be strong - the Latin is Comfortare. Comfort in our day has the wrong connotation. It is not a matter of ease but of determination and intent. Nor is it a matter of self-interest though it is not self-disinterest either.
In the early days, when God was in experimental mode, he used the word NXM pronounced naham. That is comfort transcribed into left to right letters, the reverse of the Hebrew order. For God - NXM means repentance. He comforted himself, and sighed, turning away from the destruction of the chosen he had made and whom he loved.
In the new covenant, the divine executioner need no longer repent, so NXM, no longer in use in the new dispensation, transmogrified into Advocacy - that presence of God in the Spirit that comes along side - para-cletos in the Greek, the common tongue of the Gentiles. God made God's self available to love all - and love needs no repentance.
